Let the Engineer Force Be With You !!!

Then look no further! I’m an Engineer with 15 years’ working experience

Welcome to the New World of Engineering

Are you an engineer , regardless where are you from U.S.A, Argentina, Germany, South Africa, India, China, Australia, Malaysia , etc?...

Welcome to the Club!

The engineering world has changed. New courses are evolving. Employment opportunities moving dynamically.

We all know that the global climate has changed drastically, but in reality everything else is changing, too.

"What engineers did in the past is not the same as the tasks they perform today"

Rapid changes in technology and global economy patterns are pushing engineers into newer worlds and working environments, especially regarding many of their job functions.

"Most importantly I observe that many new entry level engineers are concentrating solely on competence in their restricted area"

New, entry-level engineers tend to focus on the short-term simply to be specialists in their own work. But unfortunately they leave the most important part - their careers - largely behind.

A new entry level engineer often does not plan his or her career path by:

bullet considering the future career
bullet local and global market
bullet market demand
bullet passion
bullet talent
bullet personal life choices

Obviously, no new entry level engineer is going to have a smooth, one-way path that will always give him or her the best of all these factors.

Often the factors themselves will bring corrections to engineers' courses as they slowly build their career. My bet is that most entry-level engineers do not feel the pressures during the first three years. In the long run, it is only after making the wrong move for several years that they will begin to sweat over it.

"Then comes the familiar complaint of a mid life crisis!"

If we don’t have personal goals established for an engineering career, we will be helplessly tossed about by the waves of economics and employers’ decisions, until finally our destiny is written only by external factors.

No doubt, some engineers are destined to find the right job and good earnings by luck only, but it is not so in most cases. I have often observed that the modern engineer’s world is like a cross between the ‘Snakes and Ladder’ game and the mouse maze.

"You need to excel in your own work as a good foundation, but you also need to know many secrets and tools to move forward and progress in your engineering career"

Never forget to seek good advice from engineers who have wide experience. If you are willing to ask you can receive good advice on engineering from almost anywhere.

But where will you find sound advice on career topics such as

bullet consultancy
bullet manufacturing
bullet construction
bullet design
bullet operation
bullet maintenance
bullet installation
bullet fabrication
bullet third party review/approval

That is what this book is about.

HERE ARE THE 5 MOST COMMON MISTAKES MADE BY ENGINEERS

bulletx They join the wrong Industries - Industries that are DEAD, STAGNANT, SHRINKING, or DECLINING
bulletx Their very first jobs often form their understanding of what an engineer’s job actually is, and what it’s really like! This misunderstanding stays with them for many years until it’s too late to really develop their careers
bulletx They don’t stay ahead of the game and they don’t stay true to themselves – often staying too long in the same jobs – and this usually goes against their own nature and characters.
bulletx They miss their opportunity to develop and grow their careers. Many Engineers are actually unaware of their 'professional value' in the marketplace. This is because they either stay too long in the same company, lack the tools to market themselves properly, or simply become complacent and too comfortable with their current position.
bulletx
They often let their working environment and unproductive bosses suppress their unique talents.
"40 % confirmed that not maximizing the full potential of their skills actually causes them to suffer moderate to extreme levels of stress"
AYUN HlNG, Work stress and coping among professionals, 2007, books.google.com
bulletx Show no real interest in learning people-management and rapport-building/networking skills
"Happy situation (promotion) creates problems for the engineer who enters a management role"
J Parkin, 1996, books.google.com
